Required Supplies
Do you have all your supplies? Use this checklist to be sure you're not missing anything you'll need!
-
Paints & Brushes Waterpaints are my favourite, not only because they’re the most useful for the techniques shown here, but because they’re more likely to wash out off clothes, skin and surfaces! Acrylic paints could also be used.
-
Spray Inks I use spray inks and waterpaints almost interchangeably, so if you don’t have one – just replace with the other. But keep in mind these are less washable! Another alternative are Ink Refills.
-
Paper When using waterpaints I find that watercolour paper is the best. You’ll also need some plain white paper such as drawing paper or smooth white cardstock.
-
Patterned Paper Just scraps will do!
-
Glue White glue such as PVA or craft glue, as well as a collage glue such as Mod Podge or Gel Medium.
-
Texture Paste, Palette Knife and Stencils Smaller scale patterned stencils are best since we’re making cards. Texture Paste can be replaced with gesso, Whipped Spackle or Impasto Paste. If you don’t have a palette knife an old credit card or scrap of cardboard will do.
-
A Scanner and Photoshop or other digital editing software This is just for one technique, so if you don’t have it, or digital ‘scrapping’ scares you then never fear.. there are 8 other fabulous techniques to learn! I will however, make it as easy and pain-free as I can, and I think the results are totally worth it!
