Required Supplies
Do you have all your supplies? Use this checklist to be sure you're not missing anything you'll need!
-
Memorydex Spinner or Tray Whether you choose the spinner or tray, you will need one of these containers with the necessary rails to attach your Memorydex cards to.
-
Memorydex Metal Dies You could work around the need for these dies, but they make it so incredibly easy to create cards quickly. If you have a manual die-cut machine, I would definitely invest in these dies.
-
Manual Die-cut Machine Any brand with the proper platforms necessary to cut materials with thin metal dies will suffice. If you aren't using the Memorydex metal dies, you do not need a die-cut machine.
-
Electronic Die-cut Machine If you would like to download the cut file I supply in lesson one for cutting Memorydex cards, you will need an electronic die-cut machine. The file type is for the Silhouette Cameo, but if you have converting software, any machine will do.
-
Scissors From trimming washi tape to cutting out cards, scissors will definitely come in handy!
-
Pencil and Pen You'll need a pencil for tracing and a pen for journaling.
-
Washi Tape We will use washi tape decoratively, as well as functionally.
-
Memorydex Punch You could work around the need for this tool if you're okay with tracing and cutting by hand, but this punch will make things so much easier and precise.
-
Decorative Edge Punch Any shape or brand will work. You could duplicate the look with an electronic die-cut machine, or you could skip the technique altogether if you don't have one.
-
Memorydex Tin Divider Cards If you'd like to include metal cards in your project, you'll need to pick these up.
-
Acetate Any brand or design will work, but you will definitely want to have a few 12x12 sheets of acetate on hand.
-
We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool An alternative to this tool would be a sewing machine, but one or the other will be necessary to create shaker cards. A Fuse Tool mat is optional, but you'll also need the ruler that comes with the Fuse Tool.
-
Sequins or Beads You will need sequins or beads for filling the shaker cards.
-
Patterned Paper and Cardstock These papers will be the base for most of your Memorydex cards.
-
Photos You will need 4x6 and smaller (I suggest 2x2) photos for creating and adding to cards.
-
Adhesives You will need regular scrapbook adhesive, foam adhesive and E6000 glue to complete your Memorydex cards.
-
Tissue Paper and Vellum These materials are used in the layering lesson.
-
Chipboard Frames These materials are used in the layering lesson. Paper frames would work, too.
-
Die-cuts or Ephemera These will be used throughout the class as embellishments for the Memorydex cards.
-
Thread and Ribbon These materials are used in the layering lesson and throughout the class as ways to embellish cards.
-
Paint and Mist These materials are used in the layering lesson and can be used throughout the class on your Memorydex cards.
-
Typewriter Typewritten journaling will be discussed. If you don't have a typewriter, the look can be re-created with a computer font.
-
Computer and Printer A few techniques will be discussed that require computer-generated journaling. They could be re-created with handwriting if necessary.
-
Alphabet Stickers Part of the journaling lesson, these stickers will be used decoratively and as a way to prompt journaling.
-
Fabric Bows We will use fabric bows to create embellishments for our Memorydex cards.
-
Tulle We will use tulle to create embellishments for our Memorydex cards.
-
Paper Clips and Binder Clips We will use these clips to create embellishments for our Memorydex cards.
-
Stamps We will create embellishments with stamped and fussy-cut images. I will be using a floral stamp.
-
Watercolors or Mist We will color stamped images for embellishments with watercolors. I use Color Shine mist.
-
Tassels Paper or thread, tassels will be used to make embellishments for our Memorydex cards.
-
Large Tags Purchased or handmade, large tags (about 4x5) will be used to fill our trays or spinners.
-
Coin Envelopes Coin envelopes of various sizes and papers will be used to fill our trays or spinners.
-
3x4 Cards Pocket scrapbooking cards, or 3x4 cards, will be used to fill our trays or spinners.
